Bruno Lafon, Le Sud Pinot Noir 2024

Flag of France

Bruno Lafon left his native Burgundy over two decades ago to explore the potential of cool-climate varieties in southern France. Based in Languedoc-Roussillon, he selects fruit from cooler-site vineyards (e.g. around Limoux) and farms under a sustainable viticulture regime. His aim: to bring Burgundian finesse and Pinot-sensibility to the south, producing refined, drinkable wines with eye on terroir and balance. The 2024 Le Sud is 100% Pinot Noir from the warm south-France terroir, vinified carefully with cold maceration and stainless-steel fermentation, then matured in concrete and older French oak. On the nose: wild strawberry, red cherry, a gentle herbal undernote of thyme with a hint of anise. On the palate: bright red berry fruit, light earthiness, soft tannins and a supple texture. A light to medium-bodied Pinot; fresh, easy drinking and ideal with poultry or charcuterie.
